Director Capital Spend, Accounting Department

 

Job Summary: Due to rapid growth over the last three years and anticipated growth over the next three to five years, Heartland Dental must add senior level depth to its financial team.  The Director of Capital Spend will oversee a group of three individuals and is responsible for all capital spend areas, including leases, PP&E and leasehold improvements to ensure the appropriate U.S. GAAP is being consistently applied on a timely basis with adequate internal controls over financial reporting.

 

We are looking for a highly motivated individual seeking a challenging career opportunity to contribute to the rapid growth of a billion-dollar company.  The ideal candidate will be based and work out of Indianapolis, IN with occasional travel to our Support Office in Effingham, IL.  We offer competitive compensation commensurate with responsibilities, experience and your home base.  

Responsibilities

Below is an overview of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position:

  • Oversee the capital spend team
  • Implement accounting policies in accordance with US GAAP
  • Review account reconciliations for appropriate completion and adherence with US GAAP
  • Enhance the internal controls
  • Streamline the month end close process
  • Develop team members

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • Strong knowledge of SOX
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficient navigating in a financial accounting system
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Deadline driven
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential

Desirable Qualifications:

  • CPA
  • Experience working in an accounting department, including preparing or reviewing account reconciliations and posting journal entries
  • SEC experience
  • Meaningful experience with change management
