Senior Accountant, Leases

 

Job Summary: We are looking for an individual who is process oriented with experience in lease accounting and capital expenditures. First year responsibilities will include the following: working closely with our development and affiliations teams in reviewing new leases for the appropriate accounting treatment, setting them up in the lease software, recording the monthly journal entries, reconciling accounts and coordinating monthly rent payments with accounts payable. Responsibilities also include assisting the development team with insurance claims, as necessary.

Responsibilities

Below is an overview of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position:

  • Work closely with the development and affiliation departments in reviewing leases and setting them up in the lease software
  • Record journal entries and reconcile all lease accounts on a monthly basis
  • Assist with the documentation and implementation of internal controls surrounding leases
  • Assist the preparation of lease information required for the annual tax provision and return
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting for lease covenant compliance
  • Provide customer service to our supported offices as they have inquiries related to their lease

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Completion of Bachelor’s degree, with a major in accounting.
  • In-depth understanding of US GAAP
  • Detail oriented and process driven
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA certification)
  • Regulatory (SEC) and compliance (SOX) experience preferred
  • Experience with lease management software such as REPortfolio
  • Experience with Epicor
