Graphic Design Manager, Patient Marketing

 

Heartland is looking for a talented and creative leader to join the Patient Marketing team as the Graphic Design Manager. You will lead a team of 4+ designers, partnering closely with branding and marketing experts to deliver content meaningful to our diverse patient base. You’ll go from boardroom to design, pitching ideas to executives then diving in the technical trenches with designers. As the hands-on team lead, you will oversee the team's workflow, organize timelines, budgets, projects and designers to implement a winning strategy.

In this position, you would supervise a team of 4+ team members and reports to the Director of Digital Marketing.

Responsibilities

Below is an overview of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position:

  • Plan, direct and co-ordinate the operations of the design team for optimum efficiency
  • Manage both on-site and off-site graphic design for Patient Marketing
  • Partner with other department managers to strategize and manage the implementation of projects/initiatives in support of Patient Marketing
  • Collect and prepare project data and research for design team when applicable and communicate findings via design brief
  • Accurately estimate project/campaign scope
  • Collaborate with key team members, develop communication plans, determine logistics, set timelines and execute the activity
  • Analyze data to develop actionable insights that can be measured and reported, and report results to upper management
  • Direct and motivate teams of graphic designers, UI designers, copywriters and other to help them use their talents effectively in a cooperative setting
  • Manage the team while determining staffing requirements, hiring, training and coaching
  • Define, record and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for the graphic design team. Monitor and measure team productivity and goal progress to achieve departmental productivity and quality goals
  • Manage appropriate vendor relationships in regards to team needs, allocate invoices and manage team budget
  • Collect and document processes and standard operation procedures (SOPs) relevant to Patient Marketing
  • Convincingly pitch the creative team’s ideas to key organization partners

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Management, or related field plus 2 years experience managing creative professionals OR 5 years prior experience managing creatives in a comparable field
  • Understanding of the creative process in a business setting
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong computer skills including a working knowledge of common graphic design software as well as a proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to accept criticism and provide honest feedback in a professional, non-hostile manner
  • Ability to interpret a client's abstract concepts into a concise visual medium
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical expertise in print production and digital file preparation
  • Comfort with presenting information and speaking to large groups
  • Experience with analyzing, reporting, and communicating complex data

 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Firm understanding of and interest in cultural trends, human motivation, social psychology and consumer behavior
  • Superior understanding of branding concepts; structure, development, maintenance and advocacy
  • High level awareness of commercial print production industry standards and limitations
  • An open mind receptive to brainstorming techniques
