Employee Relations Specialist


Do you want to be part of the nation’s largest dental support organization? We’re looking for a committed and dependable person to join our Employee Relations team! The position reports to the Senior Manager, Employee Relations and Paralegal Services, and will play a critical role in supporting the key initiatives and goals of the department.


As the Employee Relations Specialist, some of your duties and responsibilities will include:


  • Conduct investigations of team members for disciplinary matters, write reports regarding the investigations and make discipline recommendations in consultation with Senior Manager.
  • Provide recommendations to managers and supervisors on the proper procedures and processes in handling personnel matters.
  • Interpret and explain human resource policies and regulations for personnel matters.
  • Prepare or maintain employment records related to events, such as progressive discipline or separations.
  • Assist with updating documents, including but not limited to: organization charts, employee handbook, employee relations guides, coaching moments, job descriptions and forms.
  • Coordinate and facilitate complaints.
  • Respond to subpoena requests.
  • Assist Employee Relations Department with a wide variety of matters including special projects as assigned.
  • Perform administrative work as necessary to support the activities of the department.


You might be the perfect fit for this job if you have:


  • Completion of one of the following: five years of legal or human resource experience OR an associate degree and not less than two years of in-house experience as a human resource representative OR Bachelor’s degree.
  • Practical knowledge of human resource concepts.
  • High level of maturity, personal initiative, sound judgement and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Suite.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Verbal and written communication skills – must be comfortable answering telephone calls and communication information to callers.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work at the Effingham Support Office, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. CST, Monday – Friday.

You might also have:


  • Experience in the human resource industry.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations relating to employment issues.
  • Previous work with matter management and human capital management systems.
