Accounting & Finance – Office Level Accountant


Due to rapid growth over the last three years and anticipated growth over the next three to five years, Heartland Dental must add depth to its financial team.  The Office Level Accountant will play a critical role supporting the Accounting Department’s processes and projects.  The position reports to one of the Office Level Accounting Supervisors and will also support key initiatives (goals) of the Office Level Accounting team.


Below is an overview of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position:


  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements for all supported offices; focusing on journal entries, general ledger review, financial statement trending and analysis; working in conjunction with the Payroll and Accounts Payable Departments
  • Calculate Monthly Bonuses for HD supported Doctors as well as Independent Contractors; all based on contract agreements
  • Calculate Quarterly Bonuses for HD supported Doctors and Teams
  • Perform bank reconciliations for all Professional Corps and all supported offices with a strong focus to ensure proper balancing of office collections vs postings
  • Support affiliation and de novo offices to ensure proper transition with Heartland; includes assisting the Treasury Management team with the setup of bank accounts, credit card terminals, check scanners and financing and working with multiple dental softwares until a full conversion is made
  • Provide support to Field Administration, supported Doctors and teams


Minimum Requirements:

  • Completion of one of the following: five years of accounting experience OR associate degree and not less than one year of accounting experience  OR Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Understanding of US GAAP
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Access
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks to achieve deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to answer telephone calls and communicate information to callers
  • Ability to interact with co-workers in a collegial manner to accomplish common tasks
  • High level of maturity, personal initiative, and sound judgment
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in accounting
  • Experience working in an accounting department, including reconciling accounts, booking journal entries and performing analytical reviews
  • Experience with internal controls
