    The System Administrator position is primarily responsible for the configuration and management of the infrastructure and systems for Heartland Dental.  This role also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with the company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.  Additionally, this position will be responsible for ensuring the high availability and optimal performance of all critical systems and infrastructure by using monitoring and support tools, diagnosing and resolving performance issues and installation of updates for both operating systems and applications.

    To give you an idea of the team structure, you will work on a team of technical IT professionals reporting to the IT – Security & Systems Manager.

    Responsibilities

    Below is an overview of the duties and responsibilities associated with this role:



    • Perform daily infrastructure and systems monitoring to ensure security, availability and integrity of required resources

    • Identify, troubleshoot, mitigate, and resolve hardware and software problems on systems and infrastructure. Escalate incidents as necessary

    • Manage, deploy and configure hardware upgrades, software updates, security patches and other necessary items on an as-needed basis.

    • Participate in required compliance activities as needed, including data log collection and review, statistical analysis and proper reporting standards

    • Documentation, analysis, implementation, testing or modification of infrastructure and systems based on design specifications

    • Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use

    • Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data on systems and infrastructure in accordance to business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance

    • Perform network asset management, including maintenance of infrastructure and systems component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information

    • Interface directly with the service desk and IT support technicians to resolve and document hardware and software troubleshooting tickets, bug reports and errors

    • Provide immediate, direct customer support and troubleshooting help to end users through email, telephone and personal communication

    • Collaborate with various managers and other IT personnel to improve existing processes, increase automation and system availability

    • Assist the IT – Security & Systems Manager in developing and coordinating future infrastructure and systems upgrade/replacement plans

    • Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and infrastructure in conjunction with end-users and department managers

    • Maintain excellent communication with the IT – Security & Systems Manager on all tasks and projects

    • Must work independently and in a group to manage full scope of responsibilities with minimal supervision

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:



    • Completion of one of the following:


      • Five years of System Administrator experience, preferably in a Healthcare setting

      • Associate degree and not less than one year of System Administrator experience, preferably in a Healthcare setting

      • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field


    • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks

    • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.  Documentation ability is necessary.

    • Self-managed and team oriented

    • Strong organizational, accuracy, analytical and problem-solving skills

    • Ability to travel a couple times per year for work and training

    • Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP administrative experience

    • Windows Server/Desktop administrative experience


    Desirable Qualifications:



    • Knowledge of PowerShell or other scripting languages to automate administration tasks

    • Configuration/Management of Virtualized environments, VMWare or another virtualization technology

    • Experience with enterprise backup solutions, Commvault or similar

    • Configuration/Management of Storage Area Networks, NetApp or other SAN hardware

    • Nutanix

    • SCCM

    • Office 365 (O365)

    • Enterprise monitoring solutions, Solarwinds or similar

    • HIPAA/PCI Compliance

    • MCSA/MCSE certification

    • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification
