    Data Governance Manager, IT Department

    Over the last three years, our company has seen rapid growth, and we are not done growing! With even more development anticipated over the next three to five years, we are adding to our team of dedicated and hardworking individuals. You will be the leader of a newly established data governance function.  This role will create and manage data governance policies, procedures and best practices.     This is a newly established function, so you will have the opportunity to help build the team. You will primarily collaborate with business and process leaders across functional areas and lead the effort of managing data as an asset, reporting to the VP, Chief Technology Officer.

    Responsibilities

    As a Data Governance Manager, your duties and responsibilities will include:

    • Define and implement a data governance program that outlines the guiding principles for how the organization acquires, transforms, accesses, and uses data allowing for traceability from business goals down to services and key performance indicators for measuring the results of data services
    • Create and manage data-related best practices, policies, and procedures (data catalog, business glossaries, data standardization, MDM, metadata, processes standardization)
    • Create and maintain a data governance framework that establishes roles and responsibilities for data governance and decision making to meet the enterprise’s data objectives and goals.
    • Facilitate the data governance policy review and approval process. Draft policy review and approval by the appropriate executive committees.
    • Conduct a detailed assessment of data landscape including data platforms, technology architecture, data flows, data consumption, data integration and document current state
    • Understand pain points in current state
    • Partner with process owners to identify, analyze and develop key measures and recommendations for process improvements
    • Produce metrics and scorecard reports for leadership. Provide analysis and expertise related to metric consistency, trends and reporting.
    • Establish the criteria for how often information quality is checked for accuracy and prioritize information quality activities for the organization

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
    • Previous experience in in defining, documenting and implementing aspects of Data Governance best practices, policy and procedures (e.g. master data management procedures)
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills – ability to identify discrepancies, perform research therein, and work toward resolution
    • Ability to prioritize work with tight schedules and target dates
    • Ability to focus on execution and strategy implementation for short- and long-projects
    • Strong written, verbal, and visual communications skills required
    •  
    • Must be results driven and comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

    Desirable Qualifications:

    • Previous supervisory or project management responsibility preferred
    • Previous experience in the healthcare industry
