Job Summary:

Join the senior marketing leadership team, reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer of a $1.5b+ healthcare company, to lead business to business and brand marketing.  We are looking for a passionate and talented director to take our doctor and brand marketing to the next level as we enter our next phase of growth. 

 

Heartland Dental, LLC, based in Effingham Illinois, is the largest dental support organization in the United States with more than 1,600 supported dentists in over 1000 offices and 37 states.  Our company offers supported dentists and team members continuing professional education, leadership development and a variety of administrative support services including:  staffing payroll management, human resources, accounting, marketing, information technology, procurement, etc.  We are hard-working, fun-loving and fast-growing – looking for our next perfect fit!

 

Early 2018, KKR became Heartland Dental’s new lead investor, with Ontario Teacher’s Pension Plan (OTTP) remaining a minority investor. KKR’s resources and partnership have opened up many new opportunities to further advance the company’s growth.

 

Position Description:

Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer, you will be a member of the senior marketing leadership team.   You will shape and deliver Business to Business (B2B) and Brand marketing strategies across the company. The position will be responsible for communicating Heartland Dental’s position as a world-class brand and company and constant pioneer in the industry, and for delivering marketing strategies that increasingly attract, retain and engage potential and current supported doctors and team members.

 

The Director of Doctor and Brand Marketing is primarily responsible for all doctor facing marketing. It includes overseeing the further development of and execution in the marketplace of our Doctor value proposition, increasing familiarity within target audiences, inspiring doctors to dis-proportionally choose Heartland, and exciting the doctor community to build preference for the Heartland brand. 

The role will need to translate insights into go-to-market plans, and ultimately into world class marketing programs that deliver short and long term value for the company.   The role has heavy digital and content marketing components.

Comfort with a quantitative approach to decision making, and a background and track record of proven results in digital marketing, advanced lead nurturing and content marketing is required. Heartland is a fast-paced environment and comfort with ambiguity is also desired. 

Responsibilities

Below is an overview of the duties and responsibilities associated with this role:

  • Initiate and interpret brand related primary market research, leverage insights
  • Refine the doctor and team value propositions
  • Craft the brand positioning and strategy
  • Deliver the value propositions and brand positioning through world-class marketing strategies and plans
  • Flawlessly execute marketing plans at scale
  • Intensely collaborate with colleagues and partners inside and outside the organization to problem solve, continuously improve and deliver market-leading results
  • Employ cutting edge digital marketing techniques to attract the attention of target audiences, drive action, and understand and manage brand reputation
  • Design, establish and bring to fruition best-practice content marketing strategies
  • Optimize efficacy of marketing programs and efficiency
  • Manage corporate communications
  • Take a performance approach to analyzing results, continuous testing and improvement
  • Manage and develop a team of 7+ high-powered marketing professionals
  • Sound fiscal management of budgets and resources

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements /Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, psychology, rhetoric or related discipline (or equivalent practical experience); Quantitative coursework (market research, statistics, finance, economics, etc) or equivalent practical experience
  • 10+ years progressive experience in B2B and brand marketing roles
  • Proven track record delivering lead generation programs for B2B businesses and sales organizations
  • Proven track record delivering brand marketing programs that have driven short & long term value
  • Track record of inspiring creatives to do their best work, achieving results for brands
  • Leadership of content marketing efforts with proven results
  • Ability to interpret quantitative findings, debate results with analysts and apply learnings
  • Highly skilled and experienced in digital marketing techniques, from SEM/SEO, display and social to mobile and beyond
  • Experience continuously optimizing an omni-channel marketing mix
  • World-class writing, communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience developing a high-performing team
  • High comfort with ambiguity
  • Intellectually curious
  • High comfort working in a fast-paced, high growth and fast-changing entrepreneurial environment
  • High level of maturity, personal initiative, and sound judgment

Desirable Qualifications/ Additional Elements

  • Master’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience in both B2B and B2C environments
